Hey All, Now that we've completed our knowledge of biomolecules, it's time we look at a part of the cell that is made up entirely of lipids. That part of the cell is the cell membrane. Oh and thanks to TM3 for the video of the week. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to identify the parts of the cell membrane. Upcoming: None If you missed class today: We turned in our McMush labs. Also, see me for the handout for what we did today with the cell membrane.

Hey Cats!
Today we're going to look at biomolecules by looking at what's in a McDonald's Happy Meal. We call it the McMush Lab. Have fun and crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to test for and identify various biomolecules that exists in a Happy Meal using indicator tests. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Since we did a lab, I have a biomolecule reading and questions for you to complete to make up the work Hey Cats!
Today we're going to rock ticket-out #2, and prior to that, we'll jump back into the review from yesterday to refresh our short-term memories. Let's crush it today. Oh, and remember, there will be no re-takes for today's ticket-out since the foldable is available to use. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to distinguish the characteristics of the four biomolecules. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Sign up for seminar to take ticket-out #2 on biomolecules. Hey All!
If you saw the title of today, don't worry, there is no quiz! We're doing a "quizizz" as a practice for our biomolecules. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to distinguish the characteristics of the four biomolecules. Upcoming: Ticket-Out #2 on Biomolecules is tomorrow. If you missed class today: See me for access to the quizizz. Happy Friday!
To end the week, we'll complete our biomolecule foldable and also review biomolecules in general. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to distinguish carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Upcoming: Ticket-Out this coming Tuesday on Biomolecules. You will be able to use your foldable (have it complete)! If you missed class today: See me to get the foldable note catcher and then use the slides to fill it out. Hey All!
Yesterday we checked-out what biomolecules (macromolecules) are and now we're going to go deeper in looking at each one of them. Today is CHO Day. Let's crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to distinguish carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: See me to get the foldable note catcher and then use the slides to fill it out. Hey Cats!
I hope you had a great four day weekend. It's time to get back to chemistry of life and look at what molecules (biomolecules) make all living things. Before we do that, let's check to see what we know about water in our first ticket out for this unit. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to describe the properties of water. Upcoming: None If you missed class today: We did a ticket-out on paper, took some notes on molecules and started a foldable on biomolecules. See me to get these things. Hey Cats!
We're going to start today by getting right into a lab called the WATER LAB. In the lab, you will experience the amazing properties that water possesses. After that, we'll go back to our properties of water posters we made yesterday and share them to end the block. Learning Target: Scientists will explore the properties of water in a water lab. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: You need to schedule a time to make up the water lab. Hey All!
Now that we have some chemistry basics down, let's look at water (since life is dependent on this molecule). Today we'll jigsaw a reading and then share the information. We'll use the information from today on tomorrow's water lab. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to describe the properties of water in a reading. Upcoming: Chemistry of Life Ticket-Out #1 on block days. In case you missed class today: See me for the work. Hey All! Today we start out new unit: Chemistry of Life. Here, we'll look at the role chemistry plays in the functioning of biological organisms. Before that though, we need a crash course in chemistry. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to describe the basics of chemistry in their note catcher. Upcoming: Chemistry of Life Ticket-Out #1 this block day. If you missed class today: See me for make-up. |
