Hey All,
Today we're going to move forward with our practice of dihybrid crosses and then take a ticket-out. Today is the last day till spring break. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to analyze offspring of two parents' traits using a dihybrid cross. Upcoming: Spring break If you missed class today: Sign up for seminar at the end of break to get the practice points for dihybrid crosses and also take the ticket-out.

Hey Cats!
Today we're going to start a new topic: dihybrid crosses. This is when you analyze two traits that show complete dominance. Oh, and only three days left till spring break! Learning Target: Scientists will be able to analyze offspring genotypes/phenotypes when crossing parent genotypes that have two traits. Upcoming: Ticket-out #3 this Friday If you missed class today: See me for the slideshow and notes. We also did a practice on dihybrid crosses. Hey All!
Today we'll do ticket-out #2 on genetics, which will cover genetics vocab and punnet squares. Crush it today. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to apply knowledge of genetics terms and create punnet squares. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Sign up for seminar to take the ticket-out. Hey Cats!
Today we're going to complete our practices on simple Mendelian traits analyzing punnet squares. Work together. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to analyze parent traits and predict what offspring will look like using a punnet squares. Upcoming: Genetics ticket-out #3 tomorrow. If you missed class today: See me for the practices. We turned in both. Hey Cats!
Today we're going our work with our learning about Mendelian Genetics and complete dominance. We'll do this by playing around with punnet squares and analyzing offspring in them. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to set-up and analyze offspring possibilities in a punnet square. Upcoming: Ticket-out #2 this coming Tuesday. If you missed class today: See me for a punnet square practice. Hey All!
We're at block days already and only eight days until spring break! Today we need to look at some simple traits, specifically Mendelian traits (after Mendel, the Austrian monk from yesterday). Anyways... We'll rock a quick input/practice and then do the TRAITS LAB as a practice. Today will go fast! Let's crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will become familiar with and practice basic vocabulary related to genetics. Upcoming: Ticket-Out #2 this Monday. If you missed class today: See me during seminar to get the note catcher. You'll have to get the data from a teammate for the practice. Hey Cats! As we transition to our next topic in genetics, we'll move from meiosis and shift to see what happens once reproduction occurs. Before that, we need to take a step back and look at the history of genetics to understand this further. Learning Target: Scientists will identify key contributions of scientists to our understanding of genetics. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Watch the video below and fill out the note catcher. Hey All!
Today we'll spend part of the block completing digital labs #1 and #2, turn in extra credit and review information related to meiosis. At the end of class, we'll do genetics ticket-out #1 on meiosis. There's lots of points available today. Let's crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will apply knowledge of meiosis on a ticket-out. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Turn in digital labs #1 and #2 for points and sign up for seminar to take the ticket-out. Hey All!
Yesterday we furthered our discussion on genetics by looking at how diversity of offspring if furthered through the process of creating sex cells: meiosis. Today you will have three missions. 1) Input #2 on Meiosis: You have to read, annotate, and highlight an article on meiosis (I have a note catcher if you need one). 40 minutes 2) Practice #1 on Meiosis: This is a digital lab with a note catcher. Click the button below to access. 30 minutes 3) Practice #2 on Meiosis: This is another digital lab with a note catcher. Click the button below to access. 30 minutes Learning Target: Scientists will be able to describe the events that occur during meiosis. Upcoming: Genetics ticket-out #1 this coming Monday. If you missed class today: See me for copies of the work. Hey Cats!
Yesterday we discussed the role of sex in genetics and now today we'll discuss the process of how sex cells are made through what is called meiosis. Learning Target: Scientists will obtain background knowledge on the process to make sex cells: meiosis. Upcoming: None. If you missed class today: Watch amoeba sisters and see me for the notecatcher. |
