Hey Cats! Today is the last day of our ecology unit! I though this was going to go on forever! Alas, it comes to a close. In closing the unit, today we'll do test corrections over the unit final exam. YOU ONLY DO TEST CORRECTIONS IF YOU SCORED BELOW A 38! This is our last opportunity to learn this material and also scoop up some points along the way. Oh, and make sure to follow the test correction sheet EXACTLY like I've explained for full credit. Thanks Nic B for the Friday Video of the Week! Learning Target: Scientists will be able to apply knowledge, concepts and experiences in ecology to the Yellowstone ecosystem. Upcoming: New unit on "Chemistry of Life this Monday. If you missed class today: You need to sign up for seminar to take the ecology unit final and/or do test corrections.

Hey Wildcats!
Today we'll take our unit final exam covering all the topics in Ecology. You've worked hard, now take your time, pay attention to details and crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to apply knowledge, concepts and experiences in ecology to the Yellowstone ecosystem. Upcoming: Test corrections this Friday during class if your score fell below a 70% If you missed class today: You need to sign up for seminar to take the ecology unit final. Hey Guys,
Tomorrow is our unit final exam. The test will definitely be a challenge. Prepare today during class as well as tonight and you'll do just fine. Learning Target: Scientists will prepare to apply knowledge and concepts of ecology in the unit final. Upcoming: Unit final exam Wednesday and Thursday of this week. If you missed class today: Prepare for the unit final exam. Hey All! This is our last topic in ecology before the test next week. It's called: Energy Transfer in Ecosystems. Remember, my grade book closes next Friday and prior to the test, re-takes for all tickets out must be completed (by Tuesday evening). Oh, and a quick shout-out to Ash for the Friday Video of the Week. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to describe how energy flows through an ecosystem. Upcoming: Unit test block days next week 10/2-10/3 If you missed class today: Take notes on the slideshow below and speak with either myself or a teammate about what you missed. Hey All,
The plan for today is to begin wrapping up our unit on ecology. With that, we'll explore a topic called COMMUNITY INTERACTIONS. In this, we'll look at how organisms interact within a population, community, and ecosystem. This is usually a topic that kiddos love to study. Hope you like it! Learning Target: Scientists will be able to calculate the growth rate of a population by using the population growth formula. Upcoming: Ecology unit final exam is a week from this block day (10/2-10/3). If you missed class today: You need to speak with me about the input on community interactions. Hey Cats!
Today is going to go FAST! To begin class, we'll do a short PRACTICE on POPULATION ECOLOGY PART 2 where we'll read information about a population and then calculate the growth rate. Next, we'll jump into an INPUT called COMMUNITY INTERACTIONS. This topic in ecology is often a favorite of students each year. Have fun and crush it. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to calculate the growth rate of a population by using the population growth formula. Upcoming: Ecology unit final exam is a week from this block day (10/2-10/3). If you missed class today: You need to do the PRACTICE: POPULATION ECOLOGY PART 2 (calculating growth rate of a pop) and also speak with me about the input on community interactions. Hey All!
I heard classes were awesome on Friday. Thanks so much for working hard and being your best. Let's clean up where we're at in ecology today and all get on the same page. Finally, I also want to thank everyone that reached out on Friday to wish me well. Oh, and thanks Hunter for the shout out and pic for meme Monday (the light-hearted humor is appreciated!). Learning Target: Scientists will be able to calculate the growth rate of a population by using the population growth formula. Upcoming: Ecology unit final exam is a week from this block day (10/2-10/3) If you missed class today: Set an appt. with me to get caught up. Hey Cats,
It's block day and we need to dig just a bit deeper on population ecology. Today we'll do something called a POGIL. You'll see lots of these. POGILS are basically ways that we can teach you something without the use of a slideshow. It's a great way to learn a new topic or go deeper on an old one in a an effective way that includes teamwork. Learning Target: Scientists will be able to calculate the growth rate of a population by using the population growth formula. Upcoming: Population growth rate mini-ticket out this Friday (one question). This will be ticket-out #4. Hey Cats!
Today we'll wrap up POPULATION ECOLOGY by doing COMMUNITY ADDITIONS on PRACTICE #2: POPULATION ECOLOGY. You will hand this practice in for points in the practice part of the grade book. After that we'll take ticket-out #3. There are lots of points available today! Crush it! Learning Target: Scientists will be able to analyze population graphs, identify limiting factors as well as apply terms to the topic of population ecology. Upcoming: None If you missed class today: We did community additions on POPULATION ECOLOGY PRACTICE #2, turned that in for points, and also took ticket-out #3 over POPULATION ECOLOGY. Hey Cats!
I hope you had a great weekend! Homecoming was awesome and you all crushed it last week! Well done. Today, we'll do another practice on population ecology. What you don't complete will need to be done at home tonight. Work hard, work together. Oh and thanks to Tera for the Monday Meme (it's from Rat Attack)! Learning Target: Scientists will analyze population graphs and apply population ecology vocabulary in analysis of graphs. Upcoming: Ticket-out #3 Population Ecology tomorrow. If you missed class today: See me for a copy of today's practice. |
